Lead AI Scientist – Life Sciences / CAS BioFinder

Bio

Jacob Al-Saleem bridges molecular biology and artificial intelligence to unlock scientific knowledge at scale. As Lead AI Scientist for Life Sciences at CAS, he leads the development of the AI components powering CAS BioFinder, designing and deploying agentic AI systems that apply large language models, deep learning, and natural language processing to extract, connect, and reason across scientific literature and the CAS Content Collection — surfacing insights across ADME, toxicity, and molecular target spaces to accelerate drug discovery. His foundation in the life sciences runs deep: he holds a B.S. in Molecular Genetics and a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from The Ohio State University, with doctoral research focused on the molecular virology of Human T-cell Leukemia Viruses (HTLV).
