Andrea Bortolato is Vice President of Drug Discovery at SandboxAQ, bringing more than 20 years of experience in computational chemistry and AI-driven drug discovery. Throughout his career, he has worked across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemistry, and is the author of more than 60 scientific patents and publications, including three published in Nature.Prior to joining SandboxAQ, Andrea led drug discovery project teams at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), Schrödinger, Heptares Therapeutics (now Nxera Pharma), and Syngenta. He has experience working on both internal programs and collaborations with companies including AstraZeneca, Roche, and Sanofi.Andrea holds a PhD in computational chemistry, earned through a partnership between the University of Padua in Italy and the University of Geneva in Switzerland. He subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
