During the pandemic, the popularity of preprint servers grew because they emerged as the fastest way to share research insights on the detection, vaccination, and treatment of the coronavirus. CAplus currently includes nearly one million publications from a variety of preprint servers.
For IP searches, these publications are normally the earliest source of prior art that is available. However, once the fully peer-reviewed article is published in one of the scientific journals, there is no connection to the preprint publication. This coffee lecture will explore the coverage of the various preprint servers, the type of research published there, and how you can leverage this information in your CAS STNext searches.

CAS STNext® includes clusters, which are collections of databases that group together similar files based on a shared feature or content. These clusters help searchers more efficiently find results in multiple files simultaneously. In this session, we will share an overview of the AGRICULTURE cluster, which contains a variety of databases known to include publications and data relevant to the agricultural field. In this session, we will share tips on how to search using the cluster and highlight the content and coverage of the databases in AGRICULTURE. We will also provide examples showing how searchers might use this data in their search workflow.
Discover an informative webinar delving into the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) on drug discovery teams. Everyone wants to shorten timelines, cut costs, and reduce risk by implementing the silver bullet of AI and ML into their drug discovery workflow, but scientific breakthroughs are only as trustworthy as the data that initiates them.
This webinar will introduce the retrieving methods of organometallics and inorganic chemistry related fields, including organometallic catalysts, MOF materials, photoelectric materials, inorganic ceramic materials, and organic-inorganic composites.

IP structure searches may have broad descriptions of cyclic systems where the elements, individual rings, or fusion types of rings in the ring system has too many options to be defined in a structure search. Learn how to use the Ring System Data elements in CAS REGISTRY®, specifically built to assist in defining rings using a unique set of search fields.
Join us as CAS SciFinder experts walk you through recent solution enhancements. We will go in-depth, helping you understand how to take advantage of newly released features and the overall impact on researching in CAS SciFinder. Stick around until the end for a preview of some additional enhancements you can expect in the coming months.
Before 2000, many drugs that formed a covalent bond with targets did so non-selectively, which often led to undesired side effects when compared to non-covalent drugs. This led to the belief that covalent inhibitors were not ideal drug candidates, resulting in limited development by the pharmaceutical industry. However, covalent drugs have experienced a remarkable resurgence in the last few years as evidenced by the growing number of approvals by the USFDA, including the 2021 approval of Sotorasib to treat lung cancer, which was recently featured on ACS Webinars.
Databases in CAS STNext® include a wealth of citations, including both patent and non-patent literature. This information can be a steppingstone for your searches and analyses by supporting a comprehensive prior art search, finding key patents, identifying licensing opportunities, and more.
