CAS SciFinder® enhancements
Knowing when changes are coming in CAS SciFinder is important to you. To help ensure you are prepared to handle questions you may receive from your users when changes occur, we will provide a preview version of the latest release notes below.
Notes will be posted approximately one week prior to each release, which are scheduled every four weeks. Occasionally a change may not be included in this preview or actually be released since they are posted before the release is finalized. As always, final release notes will be added to the What’s New? section in the CAS SciFinder solution in conjunction with the actual release.

SearchSense Enhancements
Publication Year Relevance Boost
SearchSense in CAS SciFinder has been enhanced with an updated References relevance ranking algorithm that now considers publication year. References with more recent publication dates will receive a boost in their relevance to prioritize the newest work and make it easier for users to stay up to date in their research.
Improved Hyphen Handling
SearchSense in CAS SciFinder has been enhanced to ensure queries containing hyphens work as intended. Hyphenated terms are now treated as white spaced separated, multi-term entities. This reduces noisy partial matches and ensures a higher quality result set.
IP Connections Enhancements
Facet References by Classification Codes
IP Connections in CAS SciFinder has been enhanced with an expanded ability to facet reference results. IPC Classification Code filter is now a Classifications filter and now includes both IPC and CPC data.

This new filter enables users to narrow a result set by a code corresponding to the particular technology, making it easier to organize and search for inventions within the research space.
Advanced Search for Classification Codes
IP Connections in CAS SciFinder has been enhanced with an expanded ability to search for patents by classification. The IPC Code advanced search field has been expanded to become a Classification Code field, enabling comprehensive searches across both IPC and CPC data.

Prior Art Completion Messages
Users can now continue working anywhere in CAS SciFinder while their Prior Art Analysis or Prior Art Discovery searches run in the background. Users will receive a notification when results are ready, regardless of which page they are currently viewing.

Enhance PDF and RTF Download Options
Downloading for PDF and RTF file formats have been enhanced with options to include Claim 1 and patent status information, providing richer context for references in the exported file.
