Bio
As a Lead Data Scientist at CAS, J. David Fleig develops advanced machine learning, natural language processing, and knowledge-graph–driven solutions that enhance and expand the capabilities of CAS products, including CAS SciFinder. His work focuses on leveraging NLP and literature‑based discovery to improve scientific insight, accelerate research workflows, and support the development of new product features.
David currently serves as the DAI Area Lead for SciFinder, providing technical and strategic leadership across AI initiatives within the platform. In addition to his industry work, he maintains an active academic role as adjunct faculty at Franklin University and the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, where he teaches courses in computer science.
He holds graduate and undergraduate degrees across four different disciplines, culminating in a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a research focus on natural language processing and literature‑based discovery.
