Antes de ingressar no CAS, Gilles ocupou vários cargos executivos, incluindo Vice-presidente e Diretor Geral na Milacron; Diretor Comercial na DuPont/Axalta; e Gerente de Desenvolvimento de Negócios Globais na 3M, além de várias outras funções em P&D, negócios e vendas nos setores aeroespacial, de petróleo e gás, industrial, óptico e eletrônico. Gilles tem doutorado em química pela University of Montreal, Canadá, MBA pela HEC School, Canadá, bacharelado em química e ciências dos materiais pela Université de Pau, França, e é Six Sigma Black Belt.
