Vishal is a postdoctoral fellow in the Bollinger–Krebs Laboratory at Pennsylvania State University. He earned his Ph.D. in chemistry (2022) in the David P. Goldberg laboratory at Johns Hopkins University, where he developed synthetic models of metalloenzyme active sites and investigated their reactivity with carbon-centered radicals. At Penn State, he explores the scope of non-native transformations catalyzed by non-heme iron halogenases, including fluorination and pseudohalogenation. Vishal’s long-term goal is to establish principles for predictive biocatalysis and to develop mechanistic blueprints that guide the design of catalysts for sustainable chemical synthesis.
