Search Operators
Site Search supports the following Boolean and advanced search operators:
OR
This search operator returns results that have any of the keyword terms.
This search operator must be used in all caps.
Example:
To find pages or documents with the words chemcats or catalog, you could use the OR operator.
chemcats OR catalog
AND
This search operator returns results that contain all the keyword terms.
This search operator must be used in all caps.
Example:
To find pages that contain both the terms SciFinder and reaction, you could use the AND operator to do so.
SciFinder AND reaction
NOT
This search operator excludes results containing the term preceded by the NOT operator.
This search operator must be used in all caps.
Example
To find results that contain the word chemcats without the word program, you can use the NOT operator.
chemcats NOT program
Exact Search " "
To find the exact words or phrase, place quotation marks around the search terms.
Example: "registry number"
Wildcards *
This search operator will help you find results containing the specified string of letters.
Example: chem* will retrieve results such as chemical, chemist, and ChemZent.
