Brian Habersberger pioneers applied LLM engineering from inside industry. As Lead GenAI Engineer at CAS, he spearheads development of CAS Newton for CAS IP Finder — the agentic interface to CAS IP Finder powered by STN — bringing generative AI to the intersection of science and intellectual property. He also leads the team building MCP and A2A capabilities to integrate with AI-powered workflows through CAS Connections. He brings expertise from a deep career in the sciences, with twelve years at the Dow Chemical Company, where he served as R&D Focal Point for photovoltaic encapsulant materials. In 2022 he pivoted to AI, architecting Dow's first enterprise LLM application, a system analyzing more than 250,000 patents. He is an inventor on 12 published patent families and has authored 15 peer-reviewed articles in journals including JACS, Macromolecules, and Advanced Energy Materials. He is also the creator of Nothing, Forever, one of the earliest LLM-powered generative media projects. He holds a B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
