Piyush Agrawal leads a cross-functional team of data scientists and data engineers at ACSII (representing CAS) in Pune, India, driving strategic AI and analytics initiatives across the full spectrum of modern AI — from conventional ML models to advanced GenAI and agentic AI applications. His foundation is deep in science and technology: he started as a computational physicist, spent years doing molecular simulations and quantum chemistry research, and then moved into industry building AI solutions on top of that scientific base. Before joining CAS, he held data science and AI roles at Syngene (drug discovery), PI Industries (agro-chemicals R&D), and Solvay (specialty chemicals), building tools and models that researchers use in their day-to-day work. Piyush holds a B.S. and M.S. from Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research Pune and a Ph.D. from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Condensed Matter and Materials Physics.
