Major improvements are coming to CAS SciFinder® later this year.

View the webinar recording below for a first look at some of these exciting new capabilities. This preview will demonstrate the power of a single AI-enabled, natural language search. In addition, see how the incorporation of more integrated patent fields within results will simplify your workflows.

Speed and accuracy

CAS SciFinder will soon get you to answers to scientific questions quicker while maintaining the accuracy you expect. See the example below for details.

Suppose you searched "what is the solubility of zinc oxide" in CAS SciFinder. Today, if you enter that simple query, you will see the following:

While you will find an accurate answer, it requires several clicks to view the substance details and locate the chemical properties within the experimental properties table.

Alternatively, using popular search engines may lead you to a faster answer, but the information may not be accurate.

Soon, with improved search technology, performing this same query in CAS SciFinder will result in an accurate, literature-sourced answer, sourced directly from the published CAS data you rely on today, without the need to click through substance details and chemical properties.

Natural language queries

Depending on the complexity and phrasing, search results may vary in CAS SciFinder depending on how that query is interpreted. In many cases, you may need to modify your query or employ filters on your results set to arrive at the most relevant information.

As part of this new search experience in CAS SciFinder, you will benefit from AI-enhanced natural language search technology. This will enhance the interpretation of natural language queries, leading you to more precise results without the need for simplified questions or Boolean language.

Expanded IP workflows

Many researchers/scientists are more responsible for pre-project research and analysis, including prior art searches to understand the research landscape and evaluate competitive threats. CAS SciFinder will soon support these evolving IP workflows with expanded content, improved reporting, and analytics.

Interactive Retrosynthetic Development

Today, evaluating synthesis plans in CAS SciFinder requires relaunching your entire search. This adds time to your research and can hamper innovation. Soon, you will be able to extend these plans without relaunching the search. Furthermore, you will see literature precedents within the plan context for a more seamless assessment of reactions and reaction steps.

New plans will take advantage of AI-enabled modeling to precisely interpret reaction details from the CAS Content Collection™. The result is a quicker, easier way to dive into your retrosynthesis plans to discover more evidence-based predictive solutions to your synthesis challenges.

The retrosynthesis plans in CAS SciFinder are already built on the best available literature evidence. Soon, you will seamlessly interact with your retrosynthesis plans to discover more evidence-based predictive solutions to your synthesis challenges.

These powerful new capabilities are the foundation for many new developments coming in late 2025, designed to enhance your everyday research.
