Shinhyeong Choe

Shinhyeong earned his Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from KAIST in 2026 and is now a postdoctoral researcher there. His work focuses on the biodegradation of polymer materials in engineered and natural environments, as well as the design of sustainable polymers with improved real-world degradability. His research integrates polymer chemistry, environmental microbiology, and metagenomics to examine biodegradation, carbon fate, and polymer–microbe interactions. By coupling material development with mineralization-based testing and microbial community analyses, he aims to develop practical design rules and more scientifically defensible assessments of biodegradable materials.
