Learn more about Blaine Fiss

Blaine (he/him/il) obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University for the application of mechanochemical techniques toward the sustainable synthesis of phosphorus-based materials and polymers for a range of applications. He was then a postdoctoral researcher at Western University working on the synthesis of hemilabile P,N ligands and investigating their coordination chemistry. Currently, Blaine is a Killam postdoctoral fellow in the Dasog lab at Dalhousie University. His current research uses mechanochemistry for the synthesis of plasmonic refractory nanoparticles and further testing them for the catalytic degradation of ‘forever chemicals’. Beyond research, Blaine is passionate about improving diversity and accessibility in chemistry.
