How Analyze Tracking Is Configured on CAS.org

Where the Analyze tracking settings live, what each tracking method means, and what to verify after any change to tracking.

Before you beginYou need Editor access to the CAS.org site. Anything published to the live site is reviewed by the web team first.

Tracking is already enabled on CAS.org, including the AI discovery reporting described in AI Discovery: AEO Analytics in Analyze. This article documents the settings so that anyone reviewing or changing them knows what each one does.

Where the Settings Live

Go to the Insights tab, then Settings, then General. Tracking is switched on or off here, and the tracking method is selected here. Changes take effect only after the site is published.

Tracking Methods

Analyze offers three methods, and the choice determines both how much data arrives and what the site needs in place to stay compliant.

  • Always on. Tracking runs for every visitor. This collects the most complete data.
  • Opt in. Tracking runs only after a visitor agrees. This collects the least data.
  • Opt out. Tracking runs until a visitor declines.

Opt in and opt out both require a consent management solution to work properly. Without one, the method has nothing to read a visitor decision from. Confirm the consent setup before changing methods, and see Analyze Privacy, Cookies, and Compliance for the compliance side of the decision.

Domains and Environments

Analyze reports on the domains in the allowed domains list. Any new page published to one of those domains is tracked automatically, with no per page setup.

By default the reports show production data only. A Show staging data with production data option adds results from staging domains. Leave this off for normal reporting, because staging traffic is largely internal and inflates the numbers. Switch it on only for a specific test, then switch it back.

When Data Appears

After tracking is enabled and the site is published, results begin appearing within about 30 minutes. An empty report immediately after a publish is expected rather than a fault.

Turning Tracking Off

Tracking is disabled by switching it off and publishing the site. This is close to irreversible in practice: disabling Analyze removes access to the historical analytics data. Treat it as a decision for a Workspace admin, not a troubleshooting step.

Checklist After Any Tracking Change

  • The site has been published, because settings changes do nothing until it is.
  • The tracking method matches the consent management setup on the site.
  • The staging data option is off unless a test requires it.
  • New domains, if any, have been added to the allowed domains list.
  • Data is arriving again, checked at least 30 minutes after publishing.
  • Existing goals still report, since goals depend on the elements they were built against.
