Gaston obtained his master’s degree from Radboud University Nijmegen (The Netherlands), where he performed his major research internship in the synthetic organic chemistry group of Prof. F. P. J. T. Rutjes working on the total synthesis of (-)-sedacryptine. He then started working as a research assistant in the European Lead Factory consortium for six months, before starting his Ph.D. research in the bioinspired synthesis group of Prof. P. Timmerman and Prof. J. H. van Maarseveen at the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands). He is currently working on the development of novel scaffold-assisted peptide multicyclization strategies.
