Save and publish Collection items

Updated
April 21, 2025

When you're working with your Collection items (whether creating something new or making edits), Webflow gives you several ways to save and publish your work.

These options put you in control of exactly when and how your changes appear on your live website. You can save drafts to work on later, schedule items to go live at a specific time, or publish them instantly.

Here's a breakdown of your saving and publishing choices:

What You Choose... Sets the Item's Status to... Affects Publishing by...
Save as Draft Draft Saves your current work without making it live. It won't appear on your site until you explicitly publish it or include it in a scheduled publish.
Publish Now Published Immediately makes the Collection item live on your website.
Save Changes as Draft Draft Changes Saves any edits you've made to a live item as a draft. These changes won't appear on your site until you publish them.
Queue for Publish Queued Adds the Collection item (including any draft changes) to a queue. It will be published the next time you do a full site publish.
Remove from Queue Draft or Draft Changes Takes the item out of the publishing queue. If the item wasn't live, it goes back to being a Draft. If it was live, it goes back to having Draft Changes.
Unpublish Draft Immediately removes the Collection item from your live website and sets its status back to Draft.
Schedule Publish Scheduled [date/time] Sets a specific date and time for the Collection item to be published automatically. Once it goes live, its status will change to Published.
