You can query specific databases or subsets while similarity searching. Options differ by program.

BLAST® Program

Database Options

BLASTn

ONE of the following:

  • All Sequences – Sequences that are referenced in documents in CAplusSM, CAS REGISTRYSM or the GenBank® databases. See CAS Coverage of Sequences for more information on CAS sequence registration policies over the years.

  • All Referenced Sequences – Sequences that are referenced in documents in CAplus.

  • Referenced in at least one Patent document – Sequences that are referenced in a patent, patent application or similar document.

Note: They may also be referenced in other documents, but must be referenced in at least one patent document.

  • Referenced in a non-patent document – Sequences that are referenced in a CAplus document other than a patent document.

OR one of the GenBank database options:

  • All GenBank sequences – Includes all of the GenBank database subsets
  • EST – Expressed Sequence Tags subset
  • STS – Sequence Tagged Sites subset
  • GSS – Genome Survey Sequences subset
  • HTGS – High Throughput Genomic Sequences subset
  • All other GenBank Sequences – GenBank sequences other than EST, STS, GSS or HTGS
