Craig Stephens

As Vice President, Sales, Craig Stephens oversees all sales efforts and management of CAS customer relationships worldwide.

Prior to joining CAS in 1994, Craig worked in a variety of sales and management positions at Lexis Nexis. Craig holds a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and a Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University.

Christine McCue

In her role as Vice President, Agile Marketing, Christine McCue is responsible for communicating the CAS brand and driving opportunities for the global Sales team.

Chris has been with CAS since 1988. She is an ACS member and is active in the National Federation of Advanced Information Services ( NFAIS™), where she is a board member, and former board President.

Prior to joining CAS, Chris held management positions as an analytical chemist at Battelle Memorial Institute and Roxanne Labs. She holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a Master of Business Administration from Capital University.

Kathy Gibson

In her role as Chief Innovation Officer, Kathy Gibson leads early-stage product development, change management and strategic planning efforts for CAS with a focus on growth and innovation.

Kathy joined CAS in 2015 bringing over 23 years of experience spanning the pharmaceutical and digital information services industries, including 13 years in research leadership at Pfizer and 10 years as founder and president of Helio Consulting, Inc.

Kathy currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Proof Centre in Vancouver, Canada, and IO Informatics, in Berkeley, California. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Houston and her Executive Master of Business and Science degree from Harvard Business School.

Jeff Seese

In his role as Director, Human Resources, Jeff Seese is responsible for the leadership of human resources activities across all CAS divisions to ensure CAS attracts and retains top talent. Jeff plays an active role in establishing and implementing ACS-wide policies and administrating employee benefits.

Prior to joining CAS in 2011, he held the position of global Human Resources Manager at Ashland, Inc. and Director Human Resources for Chemical and Industrials at Exel/DHL.

Jeff holds a Master of Labor and Human Resources degree from The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in human resources from Franklin University.

Manuel Guzman

As President of CAS, Manuel Guzman is guiding the organization into the future. A visionary leader with a successful track record of directing growth, Manny drives innovative business and product strategy to lead all operations of CAS forward.

Manny joined CAS in 2013 bringing diverse global experience spanning product development, strategy, content development, platform technology, and international operations. Prior to that he was the Executive Vice President of Learning, Research Solutions & International for Cengage Learning, and has held various executive positions within the information industry including serving as president of The Thomson Learning, Career & Professional Group.

Manny received a bachelor’s degree and completed his Master of Business Administration in Finance from Seton Hall University.

Dr. Matthew Toussant

As Senior Vice President, Product & Content, Dr. Matthew Toussant is responsible for building the CAS content collection and providing leadership for product management and development of new CAS solutions and services.

Matt joined CAS in 1980 and has led the building of CAS content since 1998. In 2014, he assumed product development responsibility and has significantly expanded the CAS product portfolio. Matt is motivated by helping science advance by leading the creation of solutions with CAS content, technology, and brilliant staff that facilitate opportunities for scientific-business discovery.

Matt is an ACS member and holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctorate from The Ohio State University, specializing in food chemistry and nutritional biochemistry.

Dr. Michael Dennis

In his role as Vice President, Legal Administration & Applied Research, Dr. Michael Dennis is responsible for all CAS legal matters. He works closely with the American Chemical Society (ACS) general counsel and the CAS leadership team on contracts, strategic projects and business strategy.

Michael has been with CAS since 1997. Prior to joining CAS, Michael was with Metcalf & Eddy, a global environmental consulting and engineering firm, where he was Senior Chemist. He is active in the ACS, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Bar Association. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Hampton Data Services in the United Kingdom.

Michael is actively involved with several charitable organizations, including the Columbus Bar Association Homeless Project and The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. He earned his doctorate in biochemistry from The Ohio State University and a Juris Doctor from Capital University.

Scott Painter

As the Director, Facilities Operations, Scott Painter has extensive experience in engineering, project management data center infrastructure and operations and overall building management.

Before joining CAS in 2011, Scott was the Director of Data Center Operations at Cardinal Health.

Scott is a member of the International Facility Management Association, the Association for Computer Operations Management, the Project Management Institute, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Scott received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Ohio Northern University, a Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University and an MS in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon University.

Venki Rao

In his role as Chief Technology Officer, Venki Rao leads all aspects of the CAS Technology Division and the American Chemical Society Technology Shared Services, supporting a full range of technology-related activities.

New to CAS in 2017, Venki spent 16 years with General Electric and most recently held the position of Global Chief Information Officer in the Automations and Controls Division, leading all aspects of the digital transformation for the business.

Prior to joining GE, Venki was the Principal Director for Software Services at Calico Commerce, Inc. He has also worked at BDO Siedman, LLP as a Technology Consulting Practice Leader and at Prudential Healthcare as Regional IT Manager. His experience spans all facets of eBusiness, Monitoring & Diagnostics, Software R&D, Product Management, Energy Management Solutions and Enterprise Solutions for the Insurance, Healthcare, Utilities and Accounting industries.

Venki received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics/geology from Osmania University, India, an MBA degree with specialization in Management Information Systems from De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines, and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Florida Tech in Melbourne, FL. He is also Six-Sigma green belt certified. Venki has received CIO Magazine’s Top 100 CIOs award in 2013 and Computerworld’s Premier 100 Technology Leaders award in 2014.
