STN Express 6.01 for Windows incorrectly prevents a G-group from being the ring substituent in a Variable Point of Attachment. For example, the following structure queries cannot be drawn
These queries are valid, and you should be allowed to draw them.
This problem was corrected beginning in STN Express 6.01a. If you are not able to upgrade, you may revert to the 6.0d version of Structure Drawing by following these instructions.
Step A
Exit STN Express. STN Express cannot be running during this operation.
Step B: Locate the STN Express Installation Folder
- Locate STNPSI.EXE, the STN Express Structure Drawing application, on your computer. It is likely to be found in C:\PROGRAM FILES\STNEXP or C:\STNEXP.
- Note the folder in which STNPSI.EXE was found and open it. This is your STN Express installaton folder.
Step C: Download STNPSI.EXE
- Download STNPSI.EXE to a convenient location, such as your desktop.
Step D: Replace STNPSI.EXE
- Right-click the STNPSI.EXE icon on your desktop and drag the icon to the STN Express installation folder.
- Release the right mouse button and select Copy here from the menu.
- Windows asks if you want to replace STNPSI.EXE that is already in the folder. Note that you are replacing a newer (September 18) version with an older (January 2) version. Click Yes.
You may delete STNPSI.EXE from your desktop.
Launch STN Express and draw your query.
