SciFinder Answer Keys
Available with STN Express, Version 6.01 and higher for Windows Using SciFinder answer keys in an STN session lets you further support your users by extending their search in a broad range of respected science and technology databases and by using the post-processing tools on the resulting transcript.
After you explore in SciFinder, select Answer Keys (*.txt) as the file format in the Save as type: box of the Save File As dialog box. Note: Remember where you saved the file since you will need to find it again when you are using STN Express with Discover!
In the STN Online and Results Preferences window, select the version of CA or CAplus that will be used to search the SciFinder CA or CAplus answers when using the Create and Run Command File from SciFinder Answer Keys command.
Log on to STN Express. From within an STN Express online session, select either Create Command File from SciFinder Answer Set or Create and Run Command Files from SciFinder Answer Set from the Query menu. Follow these steps if you select Create Command File from SciFinder Answer Set.
In the Select SciFinder Answer File: dialog box, select and open the appropriate .txt file.
In the Save Command File: dialog box, name the new file and select Command Files (*.sc) as the file format in the Save as type box. Then click Save.
STN Express confirms that the search term(s) have been added to the command file. Click OK.
When you are ready to utilize the file, select Run Command File from the Query menu.
In the Command File: dialog box, select the command file you want to utilize. Click Open.
You can now use the L-number answer set to search in the other broad range of respected databases on STN or use the STN transcript in the post-processing tools.
Follow these steps if you select Create and Run Command File from SciFinder Answer Set. Use this option if you want to conduct a search immediately in STN using the SciFinder answers.
In the Select SciFinder Answer File: dialog box, select and open the appropriate .txt file.
In the Save Command File: dialog box, name the new file and select Command Files (*sc) as the file format in the Save as type box. Then click Save.
STN Express confirms that the search term(s) have been added to the command file. Click OK.
STN Express automatically searches the same databases, e.g., CAplus, MEDLINE, or REGISTRY that were originally searched in SciFinder. You can now use the L-number answer set to search in the other broad range of respected databases on STN or use the STN transcript with the post-processing tools.
