Save Your Login Information in SciFinder for Windows

If enabled by your local SciFinder Site Administrator, SciFinder can remember your login ID and password so that you do not have to type them in each time you log in. Be aware of your organization's security policies before you save your SciFinder login information.

To tell SciFinder to remember your login information, start SciFinder and log in.

Step A: Open the Preference Editor

SciFinder Preferences

  1. Click the Prefs button or select Edit Preferences from the Tools menu.

Step B: Open the Other tab

Login Information section of the Other tab in Preferences

  1. Select the Other tab.
  2. Check the appropriate boxes.
    • If you see the Save login id box, check it. If you see the Save password box, check it. Important security information: If you save both your login id and password, anyone who has access to your computer will be able to use your SciFinder account.
    • If you do not see the Save login id or Save password boxes, contact your local SciFinder Site Administrator to find out if saving login information is allowed at your location. You might need to put an updated Site Preferences (site.prf) file in your SciFinder installation folder.
  3. Click OK to exit the Preference Editor.

If you have questions about saving your login information or need further assistance, contact CAS Customer Care.
