SciFinder 2006 for Windows Log In Problems

If your SciFinder  login fails,  you see any of the error messages shown here. These messages indicate that SciFinder on your desktop is communicating with the server at CAS, but the server cannot log you in.

If you cannot log in but you see a different message, there is probably a connectivity problem.

SciFinder for Windows messages are shown here, but the text of SciFinder for Macintosh messages is the same and the solutions are indentical.

  1. The login information you entered is invalid. Please reenter it and try again.

    • Most likely, you mistyped your loginid or password. Please Try again. Your loginid and password are not case-sensitive.
    • Did you recently change your password? If so, are you using the former password?
    • If the problem persists, contact CAS Customer Care.

  2. Login failed: Too many concurrent sessions for this login id.

Each SciFinder login ID has a limit on the number of times it can be used at the same time. Usually, the limit is one concurrent session.

    • Did you log in to SciFinder in a different window or on a different computer?
    • Did you give your ID and password to a colleague?
    • If your session was unexpectedly disconnected due to, for example, a PC crash or an "Unrecoverable Network Error," wait a 15 minutes before trying to log in again. Although the SciFinder session ended on your PC, it takes a few more minutes for the session to be cleaned-up on the server.
    • If the problem persists, contact CAS Customer Care.

  3. You are using a version of SciFinder that is no longer supported.

The version of SciFinder you are using has been retired. Contact your local SciFinder administrator for information about upgrading to the latest version.
