| Introduction |
This topic describes how to find polymers containing one or more monomer units of interest by using Explore Substances or Explore Reactions.
|
| Preview |
Locating polymers containing monomer structural units of interest is a two-step process:
- Locate relevant structure matches on one monomer.
- Refine results based on additional monomer unit.
|
| Example |
Locate polymers containing o-methylstyrene and styrene.
|
|
Locate matches on a monomer |
Follow these steps to locate relevant structure matches on one monomer. |
| Step |
Do this |
| 1 |
Click . |
| 2 |
Click the structure drawing image to draw or import your structure.

|
| 3 |
Draw one monomer of interest.
Tip: Draw the less common monomer unit first.

|
| 4 |
To the right of the structure drawing window, select a search option. Click OK, and then click Search.

|
Refine using other monomers |
|
| Step |
Do this |
| 1 |
On the right-hand side of SciFinder application, click the Refine tab. Click the structure drawing image. |
| 2 |
Draw another monomer. Select the substructure option. Click OK and then click Refine.

|
| 3 |
Substance matches display. Click a CAS Registry Number of interest to see details.
