New record for content enrichment set in 2007!

December 2007

During its 100th anniversary year, CAS has set a new record for the largest number of document references added to its databases within a single week: 24,623 records. CAS continues to provide scientists using SciFinder access to the largest and most comprehensive chemical database.

In 2007, CAS content has been enriched with the following information:

  • more than 85,000 proton NMR spectra for nearly 84,000 substances
  • more than 1.2 million additional commercially available substances
  • new experimental property tags for new proteins and nucleic acids
  • approximately 10,000 traditional medicine patents from 1985-2005
  • nearly 18,000 records from Chemisches Zentralblatt (issues 1905-1906) enhanced with English machine-translations of the bibliographic and abstract information
  • U.S patent records from 1870-1889
  • utility model patents issued from the Peoples Republic of China State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) from January 1, 2007
  • bibliographic data and abstracts for patent applications from the Indian Patent Office (made available by SciFinder within 14 days of publication)

The sheer volume of new document records entering the CAS databases each day signals the magnitude and diversity of research now occurring worldwide. Scientists who rely on SciFinder as an integral part of their research process now access a greater quantity of daily updated scientific information than is available with any other source.
