- Download the file scholar-osx.dmg to your desktop or to your download folder.
- On some systems, Disk Image Files (*.dmg) will automatically mount. If not, double click on scholar-osx.dmg to mount the disk mage. (The image below is the Mounted Icon View. You may need to use the View menu to select this view)

- Drag and drop the SciFinder Scholar Application Package (the SciFinder Scholar icon on the white 'button') into your Applications folder.
- SciFinder Scholar requires a site.prf file in order to connect to the SciFinder Scholar servers at CAS. The site.prf file for your institution may be obtained by contacting your Site Administrator for SciFinder Scholar.
- To add site.prf to the Application Package:
Open the Application Package, then the Contents folder, and copy your organization's site.prf file into MacOS folder.
(MacDrive:Applications:SciFinder Scholar:Contents:MacOS:site.prf )
To Open the Application Package:
- Select the SciFinder Scholar Application Package (icon).
- Click the Actions button (gear with triangle).
- Choose Show Package Contents.

- If you do not have access to the SciFinder Scholar Application Package:
Add site.prf to the User Location:
(All users can access this location within their Home Folder, which is MacDrive:Users:[Login Name]:)
- Create a folder named SciFinder Scholar within :Home Folder:Library:Application Support:
- Copy site.prf into the SciFinder Scholar folder
(Home Folder:Library:Application Support:SciFinder Scholar:site.prf)
- Note:When SciFinder Scholar is started, it will copy any site.prf file located within the Application Package into the User Location.
- Double click :Applications:SciFinder Scholar icon to launch SciFinder Scholar.
- Optional: Create an alias for your Desktop or Dock.
