Save Data in eXpress to AnaVist (.xta) Format

STN^® AnaVist^TM obtains its initial data for visualization by importing eXpress to AnaVist (.xta) files saved in STN Express^® or STN^® on the Web^SM. STN AnaVist can also save documents in .xta format for export back into STN Express or STN on the Web.

Within STN on the Web, the STN AnaVist Assistant allows you to export document records to or import document records from STN AnaVist in .xta format. To use the Assistant, log in to STN on the Web and select STN AnaVist Assistant from the left-hand hierarchical menu. Then follow either the Export wizard or the Import wizard.

Within STN Express, the .xta file can be used with:

• The Create L# from STN AnaVist wizard, which allows you to create an L# for additional searching or for customized displays, prints, and saves
• The Display from STN AnaVist wizard, which allows you to display records in several common formats

Within STN AnaVist, only condensed format is available as a display, print, and save option.

To save document data in .xta format:

1. In STN AnaVist, access one or more documents on:
   • 
     
   • Documents viewer
   • Details viewer
    
2. Click the Save toolbar button .
   
3. From the Files of type field on the Save As dialog box, select eXpress to AnaVist (.xta).
   
4. (Documents viewer only) Choose All or Selected documents.

   Note: No options are available when saving to .xta format from the Details viewer.

5. Browse to a folder location and specify a file name.
   
6. Click either:
   • 
     
   • Save to save to the specified location
   • Cancel to cancel the save

   Note: If you try to save more than 20,000 documents, you receive a Too Many References error message. Apply limiters to reduce the number of answers and proceed with the save.

To view document data in full format :

WPIX/WPIDS Subscribers: To display your STN AnaVist data accurately within STN Express, you must first make a setup change within STN Express.

1. In STN AnaVist, save data in .xta format.
   
2. Open STN Express, and connect to STN.
   
3. On the Select Discover! Wizard window, select the Results tab, and then click Display from STN AnaVist.

   Note: If the Select Discover! Wizard window is not displayed, select Online > Wizard Window on the STN Online and Results window to display it.

4. Complete the Display Answers from STN AnaVist wizard, making sure that you select a display format of Full (Max).

To create an L# from STN AnaVist:

1. In STN AnaVist, save data in .xta format.
   
2. Open STN Express, and connect to STN.
   
3. On the Select Discover! Wizard window, select the Results tab, and then click Create L# from STN AnaVist.

   Note: If the Select Discover! Wizard window is not displayed, select Online > Wizard Window on the STN Online and Results window to display it.

4. Complete the Create L# from STN AnaVist wizard.
