Highlight Manager

In the Highlight Manager, you can control how highlight sets are displayed in the visualization workspace. Changes made in the Highlight Manager take effect immediately throughout the visualization workspace.

Using the Highlight Manager, you can:

Change the color of highlight sets
Select highlight sets for display
Reposition highlight sets for display
Add a highlight set
Change the active highlight set

Access and Features

To access the Highlight Manager, either:

Select Tools > Highlighting Options > Highlight Manager.
On the Main Toolbar, click the Highlight Color Selector , then select Highlight Manager.

The Highlight Manager contains a table with rows representing individual highlight sets and columns presenting information about those highlight sets:

Column	Description
Highlight	Contains: A check box for selecting the highlight set. If the highlight set is selected , it is included among the sets to be displayed in the visualization workspace. If the check box is cleared, the highlight set is excluded from any display of highlighted documents. This change occurs throughout the visualization workspace as soon as you make or clear a selection. A pair of up/down arrows , used to reposition highlight sets within the Highlight Manager list. The top-down order of highlight sets on the Highlight Manager determines the order in which the sets are displayed in the visualization workspace. For example, the Highlight Manager lists the following selected highlight sets, from top to bottom: Within the same visualization, charts with bars containing all the highlight sets show the sets listed, left-to-right, in the same order: Note: To be displayed within their listed order, highlight sets must also be selected .
Color	Current color of the highlight set. Click in the field to launch a color palette that enables you to change the color of the highlight set. At any time, ten colors can be set on the Highlight Manager: eight for the regular highlight sets, one for unhighlighted documents, and one for overlap highlighting (i.e., overlap among the eight regular highlight sets). A color filled with a bold check mark (e.g. ) is already in use for highlighting within the visualization.
Documents	Total number of documents in the highlight set (from one to the total number of documents in the visualized answer set).
Selection	Text describing the documents in the highlight set and/or how the documents were selected for the set (e.g., Landscape Selection). Sequence of description reflects order in which documents were added to highlight set. The description also identifies the sets that feature unhighlighted documents and overlap highlighting. A maximum of five selections show in the tooltip of the Selection field for each highlight set.

New Highlight Set		Adds a highlight set color to the group of available highlight set colors in the Highlight Manager, and changes that color to the active highlight set color. New Highlight Set differs from Next Set, which only selects the next available highlight set color in the list. New Highlight Set is disabled if eight highlight set colors (the maximum) have already been added to the Highlight Manager. Note: You can also add a highlight set color to the visualization workspace by either: Selecting Tools > Highlighting Options > New Highlight Set Clicking the Highlight Color Selector , then selecting New Highlight Set
Next Set		Changes the active highlight set color to the next highlight set color listed on the Highlight Manager, moving from top to bottom. Note: You can also change the active highlight set color in the visualization workspace by either: Selecting Tools > Active Highlight Set > color or Next Set Click the Highlight Color Selector , then select color or Next Set
Clear Active Highlight Set		Removes all documents from the active highlight set while retaining that set as the active highlight set.
Clear All Highlighting		Removes all highlighting that is currently applied in the visualization workspace. The current highlight set colors are retained in their current order on the Highlight Manager. After the clear has been performed, no documents display on the Documents viewer (if All Highlighted is selected there).

Right-click a highlight set (an individual row in the Highlight Manager).

To use the context menu:

Select a menu item.

Menu Item	Function
Clear Highlight Set	Removes all documents from the highlight set. The highlight set color is retained on the Highlight Manager and remains selected if already selected . To undo the clear, select Edit > Undo.
Delete Highlight Set	Removes all documents from the highlight set, and deletes the highlight set color from the Highlight Manager. To undo the delete, select Edit > Undo.
Apply Label to Highlight Set	Labels documents in the highlight set. Note: This action cannot be undone.
Set Highlight Color	Change the color of the highlight set. Brings up the same color palette as clicking in the row's Color field. All of the highlight set colors can be changed, including colors for overlapping sets and unhighlighted documents.
Disable Highlight Set	Withhold highlight set from display among currently highlighted documents. Same as clearing the selection check box for the highlight set. In both cases, the highlight set remains listed on the Highlight Manager. If the active highlight set is disabled, then the next enabled set in the Highlight Manager becomes the active set. There must always be at least one enabled highlight set. The overlap and unhighlighted sets are generated automatically and cannot be disabled. To restore a highlight set among currently displayed highlighted sets, select Enable Highlight Set (or select the row's check box ).
Move Up	Move the highlight set color upward one position in the Highlight Manager. Move Up is disabled if the highlight set color is already listed at the top of the Highlight Manager.
Move Down	Move the highlight set color downward one position in the Highlight Manager. Move Down is disabled if the highlight set color is already listed at the bottom of the Highlight Manager.
