To make full use of highlighting within a visualization, highlight in different colors the two or more items (e.g., companies) that you want to compare.
To compare highlighted items:
In STN Express®, perform a subject search.
Example: Search WPINDEX for all the terms "benign prostatic hyperplasia".
Import the answer set in STN® AnaVistTM.
Visualize the answer set, accepting the default clustering options.
Note: Title/Abstract is the default clustering option for all visualizations.
Example: The answer set contains 1378 documents, with a clustering configuration based on the option Title/Abstract (primary) and Exemplary/First Claim (backup). Here is the related Research Landscape:

Example: Click on the bar "male". Note the green highlighting in that bar and adjacent bars, including the highlighted portion of the bar "meth":

Note: Only bar charts are useful for doing comparison highlighting. Although matrix charts reflect the highlighting distinctions, they cannot display all multiple colors within individual cells.
Example: Click on the "meth" bar. Note the new pink highlight set that is created. Note also the dark gray highlighting in the "meth" bar and adjacent bars. This overlap highlighting represents the documents shared by the green and pink highlight sets.

Example: Right-click on any bar in the chart and select Sort > Sort Descending by Highlighted Count. Note the new sort order, with bars containing the largest number of documents in the green and pink highlight sets listed first. Note too that the overlap highlight color (dark gray) appears first in each bar, reflecting that color's position on the Highlight Manager.

Example: Click on the "female" bar. Note the new orange highlight set that is created. Note also the adjusted overlap highlighting in the "male" bar, where dark gray now represents documents shared by the green, pink, and orange highlight sets:

Examples:
Label the highlighted-only portion of the "androgen" bar with the label androgen. Then go to the Documents viewer, select the scope All Highlighted, and then the filter Show Overlap. This will display a list of all documents that exist in the green, pink, and orange highlight sets. Among these documents, the "androgen" documents will be the ones with androgen in the Label column.
