ABSTRACT:
ZSR [Z = (substituted) aryl, heteroaryl, alkenyl; R = (substituted) alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, aralkyl, heteroaralkyl, alkenylalkyl, alkynylalkyl] were prepd. by reaction of ZX (Z as above; X = iodo, Br, Cl, alkylsulfonate, arylsulfonate) with HSR (R as above). Thus, 5-iodo-m-xylene, PhSH, CuI, K2CO3, ethylene glycol, and 2-propanol were heated at 80.degree. in a sealed tube for 20-24 h to obtain 92% 3,5-dimethylphenyl Ph sulfide.
