ABSTRACT:
Scope, reactivity, and stability of a catalyst system, contg. a palladium catalyst and phosphine ligand I, in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction, is reported. Sterically hindered biaryls, e.g., II, were prepd., in high yields, by coupling of arylboronic acids with aryl bromides and chlorides. Furthermore, coupling of aryl chlorides with n-hexyl-9-BBN or alkylboronic acids afforded the corresponding alkylarenes in excellent yields.
