TITLE: A general and efficient copper catalyst for the amidation of aryl halides and the N-arylation of nitrogen heterocycles
AUTHOR(S): Klapars, Artis; Antilla, Jon C.; Huang, Xiaohua; Buchwald, Stephen L.
CORPORATE SOURCE: Department of Chemistry, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, 02139, USA
SOURCE: Journal of the American Chemical Society (2001), 123(31), 7727-7729 CODEN: JACSAT; ISSN: 0002-7863
PUBLISHER: American Chemical Society
LANGUAGE: English
ABSTRACT:
The authors have developed an extremely general, exptl. simple, and inexpensive catalyst system for the amidation of aryl halides and the N-arylation of heterocycles. Thus, reacting 4-RC6H4Cl (R = Me, MeO, MeO2C) with R1NHCOR2 [R1 = H, R2 = Ph; R1R2 = (CH2)3] to give 4-RC6H4NR1COR2 in 51 to 95% yield.
