ABSTRACT:
A porous cryst. synthetic material is prepd. from a base of Si and Ti oxides with a Silicalite structure in which Ti is substituted for Si and is represented by the formula: xTiO2.(1 - x)SiO2, where x is 0.01-0.025. The reactants are: source of Si and Ti oxides, alkali metal oxide, nitrogenous org. base, and H2O in the following molar ratios: SiO2/TiO2 35-65, OH-/SiO2 0.03-0.6, H2O/SiO2 60-100, M/SiO2 0, RN+/SiO2 0.4-1.0, where M is Na or K and RN+ a cation of nitrogenous org. base. The mixt. is subjected to hydrothermal treatment in an autoclave at 130-200.degree., under its autogenous pressure for 6-30 days. The crystals. are sepd. from the mother soln., washed with H2O, dried, and heated 1-72 h in air at 550.degree.. The SiO2 source may be a tetraalkyl orthosilicate, colloidal SiO2, Na or K silicate. The TiO2 source may be TiCl4, TiOCl2, or Ti(OEt)4. The nitrogenous org. base is tetraalkylammonium hydroxide. The material is examd. by x-rays and IR. The morphol. is examd. and studied. This material finds use as a catalyst; its properties can be modified by introduction of other elements of substitution (B, Al, Fe, etc).
