ABSTRACT:
Jonker and van Santen (C.A. 45, 4503h) found an empirical correlation between elec. cond. and ferromagnetism in certain compds. of Mn with perovskite structure. This observed correlation is interpreted in terms of those principles governing the interaction of the d-shells of the transition metals which were given in part I (cf. C.A. 45, 3706h). Both elec. cond. and ferromagnetic coupling in these compds. are found to arise from a double exchange process, and a quant. relation is developed between elec. cond. and the ferromagnetic Curie temp.
