Compds. of formula I are useful for the treatment of cytomegalovirus disease and/or infection. Compds. of formula I wherein m and n are independently 1, 2, and 3; R1 is halo, CN, C1-6 alkyl, OH, etc.; R2 is H and (un)substituted C1-6 alkyl, CN, OH, etc.; R3 is H, C1-6 alkyl, C3-7 cycloalkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, etc.; R2R3 can be taken together to form a heterocyclyl and heteroaryl; R4, R5 and R6 are independently halo, CN, NO2, CO2H and derivs., acyl, etc.; and salts thereof, are claimed. Example compd. II was prepd. by a multistep procedure (procedure given). The invention compds. were evaluated for their cytomegalovirus DNA polymerase inhibitory activity (some data given).
