The following record is from the CAplusSM database

CAPLUS COPYRIGHT 2008 ACS

PATENT NUMBER: US 7435860
TITLE: Manufacture of butadiene from butane
INVENTOR(S): Crone, Sven; Klanner, Catharina; Schindler, Goetz-Peter; Duda, Mark; Borgmeier, Frieder
PATENT ASSIGNEE(S): BASF Aktiengesellschaft, Germany
SOURCE: PCT Int. Appl., 34 pp. CODEN: PIXXD2
LANGUAGE: German
ABSTRACT:
Butadiene is prepd. from n-butane in the following steps: (A) a feed gas stream (a) which contains n-butane is prepd.; (B) the feed gas stream (a) is introduced into .gtoreq.1 first dehydrogenation zone and n-butane is dehydrogenated in a non-oxidative, catalytic manner, wherein a gas flow (b) contg. n-butane, 1-butene, 2-butene, butadiene, hydrogen, optionally carbon dioxide and optionally water vapor is obtained; (C) the gas flow (b) and a gas contg. oxygen are fed into .gtoreq.1 s dehydrogenation zone and 1-butene and 2-butene are oxidatively dehydrogenated, wherein a gas flow (c) contg. n-butane, butadiene, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and water vapor is obtained; (D) compression is carried out in .gtoreq.1 first compression zone and the gas flow is cooled, wherein .gtoreq.1 condensation flow (d1) which contains water and a gas flow (d2) contg. n-butane, butadiene, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and water vapor is obtained; (E) the gas flow (d2) is sepd. by means of extractive distn. in a product flow (e1) which is composed of, essentially butadiene and a flow (e2) contg. n-butane, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and water vapor (e2). (F) compression is carried out in .gtoreq.1 addnl. compression step and the gas flow (e2) is cooled, wherein .gtoreq.1 condensation flow (f1) which contains n-butane and water and a gas flow (f2) contg. n-butane, hydrogen and carbon dioxide is obtained; (G) the gas flow (f2) is cooled, wherein the condensation flow (g1) contg. n-butane and a waste gas flow (g2) contg. carbon dioxide and hydrogen is obtained; (H) water is sepd. from the .gtoreq.1 condensation flow (f1) and, optionally, the condensation flow (g1) by phase sepn., wherein at least the return flow (h1) contg. n-butane and .gtoreq.1 waste water flow (h2) is obtained, and the return flow (h1) is returned in the first dehydrogenation zone.
