ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to an (S)-enriched citalopram tartrate compd., wherein at least 70% of the citalopram moieties are the (S)-enantiomer of citalopram. Resoln. of the racemic citalopram using L-(+)-tartaric acid and formaldehyde and seeding with (+)-citalopram gave the (S)-citalopram as the tartrate salt. The latter was also be converted to the oxalate salt.
