ABSTRACT: This invention provides a process for the prepn. of nitro-contg. compds. with general formula of R1-CH(R2)-NO2 [wherein R1 and R2 = independently (un)substituted (cyclo)alkyl or (cyclo)alkenyl, etc.; or R1 and R2 form an (un)substituted cycloalkenyl; with the proviso that at least one of R1 or R2 contains a carbon-carbon double bond] comprising directly oxidn. of the oximes R1-C(R2)=N-OH [wherein R1 and R2 as defined above] with peroxomolybdenum complexes or molybdates/hydrogen peroxide. For example, 3-(1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]dec-7-en-7-yl)acrylic acid was hydrolyzed in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid to obtain 3-(5-oximecyclohex-1-enyl)acrylic acid, followed by oxidn. with Na2MoO4/H2O2 to give 3-(5-nitrocyclohex-1-enyl)acrylic acid. |
