Abstract:
The invention relates to process for preparing cyclododecatriene (e.g.,cyclododeca-1,5,9-triene) in a continuous or discontinuous process by trimerization of butadiene in the presence of a catalyst system (e.g., titanium tetrachloride and ethylaluminum sesquichloride) and a solvent (e.g., benzene), the crude cyclododecatriene obtained being able to be isolated by means of distillation  The cyclooctadiene formed as byproduct can likewise be isolated from the crude product.
