Patent Number: US 7868216
Title: Production of propylene using the dimerization of ethylene in 1-butene, hydroisomerization in 2-butene, and metathesis by ethylene
Inventor(s): Chodorge, Jean Alain; Dupraz, Christiana
Patent Assignee(s): Institut Francais du Petrole, Fr.
Source: Fr. Demande, 26 pp. CODEN: FRXXBL
Language: French
Abstract:

A process of production of propylene of high purity includes (1) a stage of dimerization of ethylene in 1-butene, (2) a stage of hydroisomerization of 1-butene in 2-butene, and (3) a stage of metathesis of 2-butene by ethylene. To increase the production of propylene, the process can use an addnl. source of butenes such as a C4 hydrocarbon or catalytic cracking units.
