Abstract:
A continuous production of diarylcarbonates from dialkyl carbonates and hydroxyarom. compds. comprises (a) manufacturing alkylene carbonates by reacting alkylene oxides with CO2, (b) reacting these alkylene carbonates with aliphatic alcs. to obtain dialkyl carbonates and alkylene glycol, (c) separating dialkyl carbonates, (d) separating alkylene glycols, (e) oxidative carbonylation separated alkylene glycols with CO to obtain alkylene carbonate, (f) reacting dialkyl carbonates with monophenol to obtain alkylarylcarbonate or diarylcarbonate and aliphatic alc., (g) disproportionation alkylarylcarbonates to diarylcarbonates and dialkylcarbonates and (h) optionally reacting diarylcarbonates with bisphenols to obtain polycarbonates.
