Matthew received his Chemistry B.A. Magna Cum Laude from S.U.N.Y. New Paltz in 2006. He worked with Prof. Patrick Holland at the University of Rochester and received his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry in 2012. Matthew’s doctoral research investigated earth abundant photocatalytic hydrogen production and low coordinate protein sites as artificial metal scaffolds. In 2012, he was awarded a National Research Council Fellowship on a research proposal to work with Prof. Michel Gagné at the University of North Carolina and Dr. Jennifer Becker at the Army Research Office. He currently studies the defunctionalization of carbohydrates for biofuels and feedstocks.
