Andrea graduated from the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences, Nuremberg, Germany, with a Diplom of Applied Chemistry. Her Diplom Thesis investigated the thermal endurance of electrical insulating materials. She is now in the third year of her Ph.D. on nanogold-wool composites at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, in Prof. James H. Johnston’s research group at the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology. Andrea’s doctoral research, part of the Molecular Materials research, focuses on the colouration of wool fibres using colourful gold nanoparticles for commercial application.
