Johannes studied chemistry at the University of Marburg, Germany, including an Erasmus exchange to the University of Cambridge, UK. He received his diploma in 2009. During his doctoral studies, he established the DYEmer concept for the fluorescent dye BODIPY, supervised by Professor Martin Bröring at the University of Marburg and TU Braunschweig, Germany. After completing his Ph.D. in 2013, Johannes worked for the SKZ – German Plastics Center in Würzburg, Germany. In 2015, he joined the group of Dr. Rafal Klajn at the Weizmann Institute, Israel, for a postdoc. His current research is focused on dye-nanoparticle interactions.
