Installing the CAS Structure Editor - Windows

Follow these general instructions to install the Windows version of the stand-alone CAS Structure Editor.

1. Launch the installer.

Installation is designed to be per-user, installing into your user profile only (for Windows XP and newer operating systems). Administrator privilege is not required. However, please consult with your organization's SciFinder account administrator or your IT department in case your organization's policies differ.

 

2. The installer (msi) will extract from the download executable shell file. Click Next to proceed.

 

3. The CAS Structure Editor license agreement will be presented. If you agree to the terms, select the "I accept..." radio button and click Next to continue.

4. The default path for installation is displayed. It is recommended to accept this default. Click Next to proceed.

(You may change this path, however, depending on your choice, you may need Administrator Privileges to proceed.)

 

5. When ready, click Install to continue.

 

6. A status bar indicates installation progress. Wait for the installation to complete.

 

7. After installation has completed, click Finish to exit the installer. You will then be able to start using the stand-alone CAS Structure Editor.

 

8. Upon successfull installation, the CAS Structure Editor will be available in the Windows Start Menu.

 

9. Launch the CAS Structure Editor to begin drawing structures for substance or reaction searching.
