Inventory Expert Service (IES) - Instructions
1. Review the U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL FOR PREMANUFACTURE NOTIFICATION OF NEW CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES.
2. Complete Part I, Section B (pages 4-6) and Part II, Section A (page 8, if applicable) of the EPA PREMANUFACTURE NOTICE. Page 4 is for non-polymeric substances. Page 5 is for polymeric substances.
3. Complete the Inventory Expert Service order form.
4.

Submit the order form and the EPA PREMANUFACTURE NOTICE (applicable pages 4-6, 8 or a reasonable facsimile thereof) to:

Fax: (614) 447-3747

Mail:
CAS Inventory Expert Service
2540 Olentangy River Road
P.O. Box 3343
Columbus, OH 43210-0334

Be sure to indicate if CAS Registry Number assignment is desired. A CAS Registry Number is not required when submitting a PMN to the U.S. EPA.

Note: If you request assignment of a CAS Registry Number for a substance not already present in the CAS Registry System, that assignment will make your substance publicly available in the CAS RegistrySM database. Customer identity information will be kept confidential. If you wish to maintain confidentiality for your substance's identity, you should request only a CA Index Name and not a new CAS Registry Number.

5.

Within 10 working days, CAS will return to you, on CAS letter head, the CA Index Name and CAS Registry Number (if appropriate) for your substance. The Inventory Expert Service Report must be included with your PMN submission to the U.S. EPA to indicate that you have obtained your chemical name and CAS Registry Number through the CAS Inventory Expert Service.

Note: Obtaining a CA Index Name through IES is Method 1. Obtaining a name through any other means is Method 2.
