Senior Searcher, Science IP

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related science, Masters or PhD is preferred
  • Must have at least 5 years experience in searching, preferably experience in polymer searching and/or consumer product searching
  • Expertise in searching STN, especially structure searching
  • Knowledge of all databases on STN (not just CAS databases) is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs is required
  • Excellent customer support and communication skills are essential

Duties

The candidate will serve as a CAS resource with regard to technical, policy, and procedural matters related to quoting search projects for customers, and performing prior-art, patentability, and other searches.  Analyze scientific and technical data from electronic sources, catalogs, inventories, chemical libraries, customer orders, and documents to perform patent searches.  Analyze business data from various print and electronic sources to understand the competitive environment and to recommend new products and process improvements.  Communicate with internal and external customers, which will include information professionals and patent attorneys.  Maintain knowledge of CAS policies and procedures for the CAS Search Service.
